Overview and Symptoms

People who have PTSD may feel “on edge” or frightened even when they are not in danger. They may be easily startled, have angry outbursts and be uninterested in enjoyable activities. It is common for people with PTSD to re-experience the traumatic event through flashbacks and nightmares. People may isolate themselves by avoiding anything that reminds them of the event, including places, people and activities.
