Overview and Symptoms

Overview and Symptoms

Visceral pain is often described as generalized aching or squeezing in your abdomen region. It is caused by compression in and around the organs, or by stretching of the abdominal cavity. Sometimes visceral pain may radiate to other areas in the body, making it hard to pinpoint its exact location.
Some patients with visceral pain also have associated nausea, vomiting, and sweating.

Treatment

Your doctor may prescribe pain relievers or other medications to help alleviate the pain. There are also a variety of injection therapies available that can be helpful.
